2000 Ford Explorer - best motor oil to use PDF Print E-mail

Dear Barbara,

I own a 2000 Ford Explorer with over 150,000 miles on it.  Where can I go to find out what the best type of motor oil I can use in my vehicle?  And, does quality motor oil really help my vehicle’s longevity? Please help!!!

Love your column in the Houston Chronicle!

Thanks,

John

Dear John,

Actually there really is a web site for consumers to educate themselves on using high quality motor oils while not using off-brand (cruddy) motor oils.

Essentially if you buy the good stuff your engine will recognize the difference and last longer.

Major lubricant brands (Pennzoil, Quaker State and Rotella) have launched www.motoroilmatters.org.

Our cars are typically the second largest investment that we make and we want to protect that investment.  I always equate my body’s health to my cars health, we want to run high quality fluids through both and have regular scheduled maintenance to insure longevity and great performance!

Also keep in mind…The off-brand motor oils can actually void your engine’s warranty.

Thanks for writing in and enjoying my column that I absolutely love to write!
